Spence fast in Go Fast Down to Mike’s Series

Eric Spencer went into Kansas Motor Speedway with a simple goal of a top 5 in his RIDES of Conover Toyota Tundra. He came out with a 3rd place finish. Pit stops were a key for success tonight, as the choice to pit or not to pit was in play this evening. After an okay qualifying effort of p12 on the board, it would be up to Spence to work his way through the field. Passing at a premium tonight, and tires wearing off fast. Spence would have to work the balance of saving tires and staying in striking distance of his competitors. He did a good job of both after the first run were he said ” I wore the right front slap off. ” So, for the rest of the night he would stay about a grove and a half off the white line. A few cautions helped his case as all three of his teammates, Kyle frame, Brandon Puffenbarger, and Aaron Fowler, were caught up in wrecks. He was asked about his save after making slight contact with the outside wall off of turn 4, His response was classic Spence. ” It was a pucker moment for sure. ” End quote. He kept on rallying back from the rear of the field to run in the top 7 or 8 cars for most of the night. A caution came out with about 10 laps to go and he was able to pit, as 4 cars stayed out. Restarting 7th with 4 laps to go coming to the green flag. Spence got a bad restart again, and they gapped him pretty good. He drove it hard into turn 1 and gained a lot of momentum coming out of two and was closing in on the field fast. But two cars got into each other at the start finish line and caused a pile up. Spence dove low and missed the wreck and into p3. After a slow start to the season with just 1 top 5 and 2 top 10s this season. This finish is just what he was looking for. On to Charlotte in two weeks were he will have a special paint scheme for his hometown sponsor of Technink. He said as he was walking in the press room with Trackside Racing Network that, ” Without my sponsors, Rides of Conover, Technink, Enlisted Arms and AIRBORNE Graphics, Finishes like this wouldn’t mean that much. Thank you guys for everything.”
